Off topic: cracking X for lead gen
I honestly think Twitter/X is becoming one of the most underrated lead gen channels again for me especially for SaaS.
Not even from posting content constantly or building some huge audience. More just from the fact that people openly post exactly what they need in real time.
We started paying attention to tweets like “does anyone know a tool for this” or “looking for a Shopify app that can do X” and it kind of changed how I think about outbound.
Compared to cold emails it feels almost unfair because the intent is already there. The person is literally asking publicly for help.
What’s interesting is the companies winning at this don’t even seem to have huge followings. They’re just fast. They reply early, sound human, and actually help instead of instantly pitching.
I also think most people are focusing on the wrong part. Automating content is whatever. Automating discovery is the interesting part.
I went down a massive rabbit hole for the last 3 months. Began searching for tools that would let me have multiple x accounts with proxies and personalities. But the tools out there are so weak all around especially compared to my background of cold email where you have big players innovating all the time.
Tried a few chrome extensions but that is a total loss since they are so easy to block and identify by x. Then I found xreacher which initially looked great but was ultimately too clunky and just didn’t live up to what I was looking for.
Now I’m testing another tool which seems to be more along the lines of what I was looking for.
Essentially for now my strategy is that I have 3 different x accounts all somewhat unique personality wise based on profiles I developed with Claude and ChatGPT in terms of voice.
These accounts listen for “keywords” and comment and like the posts. They follow automatically, and they eventually send dms.
Things I listen for
-brand mentions
- competitor mentions by phrase
- pain points
I’m also working through now mapping with Claude other relevant phrases based on associated relevancy. So for example let’s say I sell a cookie agreement pop up tool, I’m creating a database of phrases like “just got sued for ada” which while unrelated to cookie policies or privacy policies is relevant to each other in that failure to have a good cookie pop up acceptance can lead to similar law suitsz. ( example only not my niche at all)
Again, it’s still somewhat early days for me here as I test and develop my army of “accounts” and build them out to be real automated sales/marketing agents running on X on auto pilot. Trying to keep my “tools” budget lean but so far pretty happy with the current tool I recently discovered.
What strategies if any have you used? Any good tools you use? What’s working for you?
