Planning to work abroad
Hi! I’m a newly passed CPA.
Just a bit of background, I graduated Cum Laude from a state university in our province (not really a well-known one), and I’m currently figuring out my next steps.
My long-term goal is to work abroad someday, so I’d really appreciate any insights or advice from those who are already in the field or also planning the same path.
Right now, I’m planning to take a short break before applying for work, but I’m a bit worried since it seems like most open house hirings are happening this month. I’m not sure how much that would affect my chances if I apply a few weeks later.
I’m also a bit unsure about which companies to target first. I’m interested in firms like P&G, but I’m also leaning toward starting in audit first since I feel like I still need to build more real-world experience.
Would really appreciate any thoughts on:
- whether it’s okay to delay applications for a bit
- good starting companies for someone aiming to work abroad
- and any general career path advice
Thank you so much in advance!
