Beginner with Juniper Bonsai Tree
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on my tree. It’s currently showing some exposed surface roots at the base, and I’m not sure if I should leave them as-is or add a top layer of soil.
I’m considering using a bonsai mix (akadama, pumice, lava rock, pine bark) as a light top dressing just to cover the roots and stabilize moisture, but I don’t want to accidentally cause rot or bury the trunk too deep.
Should I:
Leave the roots exposed?
Add a thin top layer to even things out?
Or wait until repotting season to fix it properly?
Any guidance is appreciated.
