Anyone with long-term experience of mechanically polished concrete in kitchen and bathroom? How does it look after 2-3 years?

Hey everyone,

Building a house in northern Sweden and seriously considering mechanically polished concrete throughout — including kitchen and bathroom. We have underfloor heating everywhere so cold floors aren't an issue.

Specifically trying to find out:

— How does it hold up over time? What does it actually look like after 2-3 years of real use? — Is it easy to scratch? We have a dog and kids — In the bathroom/shower — does it absorb water if it sits on the surface for a while? — Does it need regular resealing? I've been told that mechanically polished concrete (unlike grind and seal) doesn't need resealing at all — is that actually true in practice? — Would you do it again or would you choose something else?

We're specifically looking for a floor that requires zero maintenance once it's done. That's the whole reason we're looking at mechanically polished over other concrete finishes.

Any experience — good or bad — would be really appreciated!
