my 8 month old started to refuse to drink his milk or eat at all

around 5-6 months he started drinking 6 ounces and 1-2 purées a day, drinking a total of about 30 ounces a day with no issues. by 7 months, he started having oatmeal in the morning and a meal for lunch or dinner and still the 30 ounces of milk. for the past week now, he no longer wants his oatmeal, eats tiny bits of food every now and then or sometimes never, and absolutely fights his bottles. he will drink maybe 1-2 ounces and then starts pushing the bottle away. if i try to put the bottle back, he’ll start crying and screaming and try to get away. he sometimes rubs his eyes so i’ll put him to sleep and feed him his bottle, but even in his sleep he refuses the bottle. i unfortunately have to force him to eat because he’s always had an issue with weight gain and the doctor said he shouldn’t go more than 3 hours without eating. he’s now drinking maybe 23-28 ounces in a day.

he has plenty of wet and dirty diapers throughout the day, he sleeps throughout the night just fine, sleeping 8-9 hours, but even then always refuses his first bottle of the day. he takes multiple naps throughout the day lasting and hour or two. he is not sick, he is using the appropriate nipple flow for his age, has been drinking the same formula since 5 months.

it seems like he is getting another tooth coming in but it has not cut through his gums yet. he has one tooth right now, but never acted like this when he was teething before.

i am going to make an appointment with his doctor and see what they say, if maybe it’s something deeper to look into or maybe he’ll need a food therapist of sorts.
