Solo traveler visiting Kyrgyzstan for 10 days, looking for cultural & local insights (and a question about the Chuy Valley culture)
Hey everyone,
I’m a solo Black traveler planning a 6-10 day budget trip to Kyrgyzstan this summer. I’m super excited about the mountain landscapes, yurt stays, horse riding, and experiencing the unique local nomad culture.
I have two main questions for those who have visited or locals:
2- As a Black guy, what should I expect in terms of social vibes and making friends with locals outside of Bishkek? (I’ve heard people are very hospitable, but love to know real experiences!).
1- I’m really fascinated by the history of the Chuy Valley and the wild cannabis (THC) culture that grows naturally in the country. How is the current practical/social vibe towards travelers experiencing this? Is it widely tolerated in nature/nomad areas, and what's the best way to safely enjoy this aspect of the local culture without any hassle?
Appreciate any tips on food, horse trekking, and cultural taboos as well. Raxmat!
