What is the Most Badass Song?
Doesn't even have to be what you think is the greatest. Just the most badass. Mine is pretty self explanatory: Ace of Spades.

I have noticed people especially here, tend to shit on U2. It is kinda weird in my opinion cause this act has really influenced the music landscape and has so many iconic songs if you are into rock music, but I feel people generally hate them because they think Bono is a prick. Maybe that’s not wrong, but it is a little strange just to pretend the quality of a band’s music is shit because you don’t like the lead singer.
Do bear in mind that the music industry has been filled with assholes throughout history. I mean John Lennon was famously a dick towards others especially his son but people still consider the Beatles as the greatest artist ever. A lot of the members of Pink Floyd are also famously dicks but people still hold their albums in high regard. Why is it then with U2 that people want to rag on them or say their reputation is suddenly uncool now.
I’m not even a big U2 guy but I'm kinda wondering why do we allow our personal feelings about an artist to persist so negatively to the point where we avoid them or something.
Something I have noticed is that some people refer to artists as an act only for music nerds or snobs would know or something only geared towards them. I am not entirely sure what they are referring to. I mean where really is the line between artists an average person would know and only music nerds would know. A good example that I have seen would be Radiohead. People have referred to them as a music nerds band but I do not believe that to be true at all. From what I have read they have packed arenas on both sides of the Atlantic and both mainstream and niche artists have covered their songs. So again what exactly really is music nerd or snob artists that people refer to especially confusing in the age of the internet where information is easily accessible?
The Seinfeld is Unfunny effect was coined by TV Tropes to show that something that was initially considered groundbreaking and revolutionary when it first was released may lose its luster on younger generations. Basically it was like one of the first to do it and since others have imitated aspects of their work down the line what was once seen as novel becomes the status quo. In this case to a modern viewer Seinfeld may not be as innovative as it once was to older people.
What artist or song do you think suffers from that kind of effect in the music world. I would probably guess the Beatles to some extent. Like yeah they are canonically considered the greatest artists but I feel like people really do overlook what they did in terms of writing their own songs and pioneering recording techniques at least to popular level. I also kind of want to say The Doors. I have seen some people dislike them or whatnot but I think there is an argument to be made a lot of music does not happen if not for them. Like you can trace their influence to elements of like prog, goth, punk, a lot of 90's artists. Any others you can think of?
