I got doored and not sure my options.
A couple days ago I got doored in Manhattan. Luckily I was wearing a helmet as I flew off and landed on my back and hit my head. I took a picture of the license plate of the car, the driver, and the passenger. I also got the passenger's contact information. The driver did not wait for the cops to show. The cops took 3 hours to arrive to the scene. I walked to a one medical office after to get checked out. They recommended a CT scan in the future. The past couple days I have had headaches, neck pain, and bruises appear on my body. I been documenting everything and taking pictures.
I have the police report in hand. It is not as helpful or detailed as it should be. I have found the driver's insurance information online for the no fault claim which I will start today as I know need to do within 30 days. I also plan to reach out to the building it happened in front of for the video footage.
I called a lawyer and was told me since I was not seriously injured that I am not able to pursue anything other than no fault claims for health bills.
This has really impacted my mental health and has cost me money. I plan to see my primary doctor and go to PT for the neck pain.
I am kind of lost on what I should do next. How do I purse action against the driver and passenger for their negligence?
