The Blue Marvel in this Studio Pro is now a Blown Marvel. I'm taking advantage of this opportunity to try out a different speaker and would love recommendations to point me a direction.

My north star tone is Britt Daniel of Spoon. He plays Teles with a Klon through a Vox AC30. I have the Tele and a Klon(e). I'm thinking maybe a Celestion speaker could help close the gap for me as it is more British-voiced. I know it won't be perfect. But in general, I'm looking for something to play mostly Spoon-ish stuff with a bit of Kinks and 60s garage/psych mixed in.

I pushed my 25 year old Peavey Studio Pro 112 to its limits, likely while using my EQD Hoof (more like “oof”) fuzz. The silver lining is that I can get a great Dave Davies torn speaker tone through the “clean” channel now. I’ve decided it’s best to swap the speaker though.

It seems like a fairly easy swap out and I do have experience replacing stereo speakers (speaker cones actually) so I feel comfortable doing it myself.

But is there any cause for concern that something else in the amp is damaged? Besides the slight distortion I’m hearing from the speaker now, are there any indicators of an electronics issue that might want to look out for and have an amp tech look at?
