24m need guidance
Hello, I’ve been lurking this sub for a while and I finally decided to post as I feel I’ve missed major investment opportunities as of late. The motivation/goal of this post is to get opinions, advice and maybe learn something new through your comments.
I started really taking this seriously in 2024 and I started with about 8k in VUSXX from saving over the years throughout high school and such. Currently I focus primarily on my brokerage as I set and forget my 401k and Roth through my company. So in my eyes I only have 38k to my name. My vehicle was payed off until I got hit by someone so I’m hoping my payout is high (likely a total loss) and could leave me some extra to dump into my brokerage.
That said I feel behind because at the beginning of April I had the idea to sell half of my VUSXX (little over 10k) to dump into AMD and could’ve doubled that investment. I’m kicking myself for not following my gut but shit happens. I know comparison is the thief of joy but I’m trying to take this as a learning opportunity and to be less risk adverse due to my time horizon.
I’d like to maximize my portfolio to yield as much as possible. I did however buy the dip for everything I’m currently invested in and set up auto investments into VOO at $400 a month (treated as an expense). It’s lower than I’d like to be but I do throw in any extra I have at the end of the month so sometimes I can get $500-700 depending. I don’t live with my parents and split rent with my gf.
I’d like to know what I should do with half of my VUSXX. Am I too late on AMD? Should I dump into NVDA as it’s still around the $200 mark? I’d assume at some point it would jump. Am I late to MU or INTL? I also have the idea to stop my Roth with my company and sell what’s in my brokerage to turn that into a Roth and re invest everything to save on taxes now rather than later.
I have no background in investing and I’m all self taught. This is what is making me feel so behind as I didn’t follow my gut like a dummy. I’m very curious to see what you guys say. Thanks in advanced for your input and I look forward to new ideas and adjustments.
