The office hockey pool nobody asked for 🏒

Good morning, hive mind! This has been bugging me for a while, so I’m tossing it out there.

I get that some people aren’t coming in. No argument there. But a lot of people are making the effort, whether they love it or hate it, dragging themselves in with a long commute, their laptop bag, lunch, coffee, and the last bit of morale they found in the parking lot!

In some departments (but of course not consistently), management, up to the ADM, is spreadsheet tracking office attendance by name (insert pearl clutch here😅).

That includes who’s working from home, who’s in the office, who’s exempt or on leave right down to each person’s percentage of onsite work against the return requirement.

Have concerns been raised about this kind of individual tracking? Where does this go next? Does it become a discipline tracker down the road? A mark on your EPMA to be discussed?

Once names, percentages, and compliance status start moving up the chain, it starts looking less like “who’s in today?” and more like “let’s build a file.”

This kind of tracking seems to punish the people who are already coming in. If there are people not showing up, maybe senior management should deal with those cases first…

I know we all have thoughts!💪🏼
