Looking for some opinions on whether I'm setting up my AMD system correctly for 1440p gaming.
Current setup:
- GPU: RX 9060 XT PowerColor Reaper
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7700
- RAM: 16GB DDR5
- Monitor: 1440p, supports up to 144Hz
- No OC or Undervolt on both CPU + GPU
- IPS Monitor
- Window 11
- I turn on HDR in window setting
One thing I'm confused about is my monitor settings. If I run it at 144Hz, I lose the option for 10-bit color, so I've currently set it to 120Hz to keep 10-bit enabled. Not sure if that's the right tradeoff.
GPU temperature from 70 to 75 Celcius
For games like Stellar Blade, Neverness to Everness (NTE), Where Winds Meet, and Wuchang, I'm currently:
- Using FSR + Frame Generation
- Limiting FPS to 120 FPS in AMD Adrenalin
- Enabling Radeon Chill with both min/max set to 120 FPS
- Not using AFMF 2
A few questions:
- Is locking FPS to 120 in Adrenalin the best way to do it, or should I be using an in-game cap instead?
- Radeon Chill doesn't seem to be doing anything when set to 120/120. Am I misunderstanding how it's supposed to work?
- For games already using FSR Frame Generation, is there any benefit to enabling AFMF 2 as well, or should I leave it off?
- Would you prioritize 144Hz + 8-bit color, or 120Hz + 10-bit color for gaming?
- How do you personally optimize your AMD setup for smooth gameplay and low input latency?
I'm still learning AMD Adrenalin and trying to find the best balance between image quality, responsiveness, and frame rate. Any advice from experienced AMD users would be appreciated.
