Recieved Job Offer, Still Have an Upcoming Interview - Is It Wrong to Notify Upcoming Interview I Withdraw from the Process?

Howdy everyone,

After a job hunt that has felt like it’s been forever, I found myself in a pretty privileged position but I really am needing guidance.

I was offerred a job this past Thursday that offers an okay salary, but is WFH five days a week which is a rarity. I have another upcoming interview this week with another organization which would be almost $30,000/yr more, but there’s no opportunity to WFH and the commute would be nearly 1 hr and 45 minutes each way. They are both permanent full time contracts, so the only difference is salary and WFH status.

After thinking it through, I’d rather my sanity and not commute 4 hrs/day even if it meant more money. I was thinking reaching out to the Talent Acquisition Assistant who arranged my interview Monday to say that I was offered a job that I have accepted and will withdraw from the process, but my partner and friends have said that I should keep the interview as my mind may change and ‘it’s good experience’. The thing is, I feel it’s a waste of my time and their time if I know I am 99.95% likely not going to accept this role.

Am I overthinking this? Does it make sense to do an interview for the sake of ‘getting practice’ or would it be better to be transparent with the Talent Acquisition team?

Thank you — I appreciate any guidance!
