World’s Teeniest Fig 🤏

😂 thankfully my potted tree has about 50 other regular figs in varying states of ripeness on it right now, but this lil gal was just the first one ready (aka it came off in my hand when I touched it)

average experience for northeast US gardeners rn lol (my tomatoes are sooooo unhappy from the heat and rain)

Beware Guastavino’s “private” garden

I’m not having my wedding there so I don’t have firsthand knowledge, but I saw this video from a creator who is opening a lawsuit over their “private” garden, which is actually public city land they do not lease and have been illegally charging for. He seems to have a really legit claim.

Now that people are aware of the issue, with the viral nature of the internet, I wonder if it’ll lead to bigger issues for Guastavino’s. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this, or was someone who was charged extra for to have their wedding have garden access? If it were my venue I’d wanna know…

Polyester Table Runners - help a newbie please!

Hi there! I’m a bride-to-be on a budget attempting to do some DIY! I got 23 table runners (100% polyester) for $10, and while I don’t hate the existing color and could be content with them as is, I’m wondering if it’s possible to dye them to be slightly more vibrant. (Inspo pics attached)

My fiancé is a theatrical stage technician and has some experience with dyeing synthetics, but I’m trying to get up to speed. I’ve been reading instructions from RitDye about working with synthetics, and looking at the color formulas. I was wondering if anyone here might have some real-life-experience tips that I can pair with my textbook-reading. Any insight would be much appreciated!

In summary:

  1. first two pictures are of the current runners
  2. third pic is my desired outcome
  3. fabric is 100% polyester

Thanks in advance!

Florist’s Estate Sale = Low Cost Decor Jackpot!! 💐

I’m looking to DIY a ribbon arch for my wedding for under $100, and I feel like I just had the biggest stroke of luck. On a local bride Facebook group, someone posted that a florist small business was having a liquidation/personal estate sale. They had buckets and buckets of silk flowers, glassware, columns and larger decor items, houseware and tools, and literally HUNDREDS of boxes of ribbon. I ended up getting 35 rolls of ribbon (ranging from 10-50 yds, some still new and unused) for $30, and also pictured are $8 (!!!) worth of silk flowers (that I think I’ll affix in the upper arch corners for a bit of drama/texture). That leaves me about $62 to either thrift or build the arch, and for any adhesives/fasteners, I’ll likely raid my fiancé’s tool-bench.

Just wanted to share a bit of good fortune! It’s hard not to compare to some of my friends who have really big budget weddings coming up (we live in a really HCOL area for weddings particularly), but I’m hoping that pouring some crafting love into it will help me feel proud instead of apologetic that I don’t have the money for a $10k floral arch. 😅
