A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with a DVT in my left leg which was later discovered to have been caused by May Thurners syndrome. At the time of diagnosis of the clot I was 9 weeks pregnant so thrombectomy was out of the question. I was put on Lovenox twice a day my whole pregnancy until approx 4 month postpartum. I am now on eliquis 5mg twice a day.
I did a consult with IR and vascular surgeon who (long story short) told me I’m too young to get a stent, told me to wear compression socks and sent me on my way.
Problem is, I am suffering with post thrombotic syndrome symptoms daily. I have 2 young kids and am a very active person, have been for years. I can’t hike, run, bike, or walk for long periods of time. Something as simple as walking around the mall for 2 hours leaves my leg feeling achy, heavy, and swollen.
I cannot accept that I’m supposed to just deal with this for the rest of my life and do nothing about it because I’m “too young for a stent”
Has anyone approximately 30 years old gone through this? What did you do? Did you get a stent? This is effecting my quality of life and I refuse to accept that this is it. Also open to hearing experiences from all ages.
