Whats up with this traffic everyday??

Ive been living in Westchester for 7 years and lately ive noticed the traffic here is getting significantly more worse every day. It doesnt matter what time it is, what day it is, theres always TRAFFIC. Like why? Every single high way, and now even the local routes too. It feels like Im living in the city again, do people not work anymore?

I had an interview 2 weeks ago at a dive bar/restaurant. This interview was for a bartender position, which I have 4 years of bartending experience and almost 10 years customer service experience, so the interview seemed to have went great. The manager who interviewed me told me that there is only one position and that they do not have servers, busboy, barback, or security. I would be the only person working the entire restaurant, which was relatively small, but still. Id be doing everything alone. The shift was for nights 7pm till 4 am, which I found odd that they do not have any security, not even on the weekends. Anyway, there were many red flags during the interview that I brushed off because I am growing desperate for employment, since ive been unemployed for a year. During the interview she asked me if Im okay with breaking up fights and kicking people out because they seem to have an issue with drunk workers in the area who fall asleep in the bar. That shouldve been a red flag for me. Another one was that she said the bartenders sometimes call for backup because they get so busy and cannot handle it. She made it seem like they care and come to the rescue but in reality it just shows how the owner doesn’t give 2 shits about the employee being worked like a slave. She said she was pregnant and 7 months and needed someone to cover her 3 shifts asap. She also said she was the daughter in law of the owner. So Im not sure if theres some family miscommunication going on or whatever.

Now heres what I found so odd.. she asked me to come in to train 2 separate days that week and with the time and said shed just let the boss know that id be coming and text me to confirm. The day before said training comes and I do not get a text and I text her politely asking for a follow up and she says “the boss decided that we will do the training next week instead”. Now next week comes ( this week ) and Its about a week later, on the day of said training was supposed to happen. I dont get any text from her or anything.. im just in limbo. I usually wouldnt text again but its been over a week and im in limbo because she said the training would start this week. I go ahead and text her politely asking for a follow up because I do need to know what the plans are because I am interviewing with other places as well and need to figure out whats going on. She texts back “hey thanks for texting me, the boss has decided to go in another direction. Sorry, I know another place will be glad to have you and I know you wouldve been a perfect fit here, but the decision is up to him in the end”. Like what? Lol what the hell… I did not even meet the owner or speak to him. I am so confused. why is the job market absolute hell right now? How do companies not have the decency to let us know? Had I not texted her again, she wouldve never texted me first and I wouldve been waiting and waiting. I was a manager in my past position and I wouldve never done this to people. Its so demoralizing and degrading. I dont understand! sorry for the rant. Trying to figure out whats went wrong.

Im so incredibly frustrated. I want to scream and cry. I had an interview with BMW for a receptionist position 2 months ago and I did not like it, the vibe was off, but they sent a rejection email 3 weeks later. Now 3 weeks ago I had one of the best interviews ever, at Mercedes. This is for a receptionist position as well. It went so well that they introduced me to the GM (which is supposed to happen in the second interview) and he was great. I was with 3 managers and we talked for over an hour, it went so well. They got into the specifics of the job; the benefits, kept saying “when you start working here, etc” making it seem like I was there already. This interview went so well that I laughed afterwards and told my husband “if I dont get this job ill never interview again” jokingly, trying to imply how well it went. They gave me their business cards, I sent a follow up thank you email to all of them. A week later I still didnt hear back so I emailed a follow up and they said they havent “decided” yet. Now 2 weeks later I get an automated rejection email from penske. WTF?! 3 weeks just to get rejected and for a minimum wage position?! I give up. Im just done. Its been a year unemployed and my interviews go so well, I make it to every stage and get denied. Was this a ghost job? Or they already had someone internally in mind? I dont get it.
