Beauty Loop Makeup Samples are Always Only for Light-Skinned Girls
As a darker skinned girl I am tired of receiving my BL box only to be disappointed by not being able to use the makeup sample because it’s always in a shade for white skin. No hate whatsoever to our lighter sisters out there - this is not directed at you, but at Mecca, for not being inclusive to everyone that uses your products! Why are we not thought about in your Beauty Loop boxes? Here’s some evidence to back up my complaint, I just grabbed a handful of things from my box of unused Mecca samples:
- Mecca Max Off Duty Blush Stick, Shade: Juicy
- NARS Afterglow Liquid Blush, Shade: Orgasm
- Too Faced Cloud Crush, Shade: Candy Clouds
- Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, Shade: Translucent
- Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Blurring Powder, Shade: Translucent Candy
They’re unused because if you look those shades up, 4/5 are in the lightest shade possible (the other one doesn’t seem to exist anymore). Now, either I’m super unlucky and Mecca are actually dispatching a fair amount of diverse samples and I just happen to keep getting the super light shades every singe time (which statically seems unlikely - but hey, stranger things have happened), or Mecca are exclusively providing samples in these shades only in their Beauty Loop boxes, which excludes a whole bunch of woman from being able to use them and honestly, just seems kind of thoughtless in this day and age.
I’m a Level 3 member and have been for about 3 years. I have a PILE of stuff lying around from BL boxes that I haven’t been able to use over the years - I just grabbed a small sample to use as an example. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not ungrateful - I am fan of Mecca and I enjoy the BL boxes and am appreciative of the gifts we receive and realise that we are getting these things for free so I shouldn’t really complain, but I am yet to open a BL box and see a makeup item in a shade that I could actually use and wondered if anyone else feels the same?
