Is this the new norm?

Im 31 and have been a barber for 12 years now in australia. I was trained by a very "old school" guy and he always taught me the value of the finish of a haircut. The small taper on the edges, the importance of a good blow dry and proper scissor techniques as well as clipper ove rcomb and scissor over comb. The value of a good line up. But nowadays I find the newer barbers just dont care about this at all, its like they are only focused on doing fades and can't do anything else. Am I just getting old or you guys also finding this is happening. Is it just an Australian thing?
