magic lamp animation issue on cachyos gnome
Hey everyone.Im new to linux and for some reason, I can’t fix this issue.
I first installed Ubuntu and wanted to customize it to look like macOS. I started using the Dash2Dock Animated extension, but it had a problem where apps would not display properly on the dock.
Then I found the Dhruva extension, which looks the same as Dash2Dock and actually worked on Ubuntu. However, it had an issue with the magic lamp animation. Whenever I minimized or maximized an app, instead of the animation going into or out of the dock, it would animate somewhere in the middle of the screen or in a random location.
Later, I switched to CachyOS with GNOME. Dash2Dock Animated works there unlike on Ubuntu, but it has the exact same issue. I also tried Dhruva again, but the problem still happens.
These are the extensions I currently have installed:
- Blur My Shell
- Compiz Alike Magic Lamp Effect
- Coverflow Alt-Tab
- Dash2Dock Animated
- Dhruva (disabled)
At first, I thought another extension was causing conflicts, so I disabled all unnecessary extensions, but the issue still remains.
Also:
- Dash2Dock Animated needs to be paired with the Compiz Alike Magic Lamp Effect extension for the animation to work.
- Dhruva has its own built-in magic lamp effect, so it does not require Compiz.
I tried every possible combination:
- disabling Compiz and enabling only Dhruva
- enabling both together
- enabling only Dash2Dock Animated
- enabling Dash2Dock Animated and Compiz together
But the animation still minimizes/maximizes from random positions on the screen instead of the dock.
I also thought display scaling might be causing the problem, but changing scaling settings did not help either.
Has anyone experienced this before or knows how to fix it?
