I have been trying to remember this book title for ages with zero luck.
The book summary: what Id assume is a coming of age type story. Two girls from different sides of the country end up living together in college or were like door mates. What I remember most is that one of them was always calling home to mom and dad and it drove the other one nuts cuz she thought it was childish. They eventually become friends and the book followed their lives as they stayed in touch-ish. One of them became a doctor that worked with AIDS patients and the other at some point had a bunch of kids and then was abandoned i think
Possible spoiler but details I remember: >!the one who had a bunch of kids discovered that her father actually distributed really graphic bdsm type adult magazines and it caused her to kinda loss it over this discovery but the book itself wasnt a graphic / spicy novel. !<
A character makes a joke because someone says "I lost my dad" (in reference to him dying) and he says "did you lose him in a grocery store" or something similar
I think i read this between 2009-2012 (i was around 15-18) No clue if its considered age appropriate because I frequently read above that regardless. The book cover may have been black and white?
Honestly starting to question if it was real or a fever dream LOL.
