Anyone switch from Yaz to Yasmin and stop breakthrough bleeding?

26F — anyone switch from Yaz to Yasmin and have less breakthrough bleeding?

I’ve been on birth control for about 12 years now. I first started on Gemmily after trying Lo Loestrin Fe in high school. Lo Lo made me bleed for literally a month straight, so my gyn switched me.

I absolutely loved Gemmily for years because I have adenomyosis and possibly endometriosis, and before birth control my periods were HORRIFIC-vomiting, severe cramps, fainting, pain so bad I couldn’t function, etc. Gemmily completely stopped my periods, which was life changing.

BUT… about 3-4 years ago I started getting severe canker sores. I’ve always gotten them occasionally, but suddenly I was getting like 5-6 a month. I went through all the testing thinking it was nutritional deficiencies or something autoimmune related. The only thing I haven’t done is seen a rheumatologist.

A few months ago I accidentally lost my birth control pack for about 2 weeks and realized I didn’t get a SINGLE canker sore during that time. That’s what made me start wondering if Gemmily had been causing them all along. I also dealt with some acne on it.

So about 4-5 months ago I switched to Yaz hoping it might help the acne and canker sores, and honestly it did. My acne improved and I’ve barely had any canker sores.

The issue is the bleeding.

My doctor said I might bleed some on Yaz too, which honestly I didn’t my first 3 packs, but then I accidentally missed 3 pills (which I could honestly do on Gemmily and be totally fine) and started bleeding. Since then I feel like I’ve basically been nonstop spotting/bleeding for 6-8 weeks. I think I maybe had one week without it. Usually it’s light, but the last 2 days have been heavier.

I really don’t want to go back on Gemmily because the canker sores were SO painful and constant.

Has anyone switched from Yaz to Yasmin and had:

- less spotting/breakthrough bleeding?

- a more stable endometrial lining?

- better cycle suppression overall?

Would love to hear experiences because I’m struggling trying to decide what to do. PCP manages my BC and my gyn recently closed and new one cant get me in until august 🥲.

Why am I sunburning?

Just started MT1 yesterday and I’m kinda discouraged already. 😭 I did 200mcg the first day, sat out in the sun for about 40 mins, then today injected another 200mcg and sat out for around an hour. Now I’m definitely burnt, not horribly, but still burnt. For reference, I’m super fair/type 1, have slight red tones in my hair, freckle, and have basically never been able to tan naturally.

Will this burn eventually turn into a tan? I kinda thought MT1 helped protect against bad sunburns, so now I’m confused. I really don’t want to just burn nonstop. Has anyone else dealt with burning at first before eventually tanning? Did you keep going?

I’ve seen some people do loading doses daily for a week or two, while others only inject when they know they’ll be in the sun. I was leaning toward only using it on sun exposure days because I already have a ton of freckles and don’t want to darken them too much. I also have a beach trip next week and was planning to use MT1 daily while I’m there. But now I’m worried, if I’m burning this easily, does that mean MT1 just won’t work for me?
