Tips for top cut of notch

Any tips for making the top cut of the notch and making sure its lined up with my bottom cut. My notches have gotten better doing the flat cut first but I still will misjudge lining my cuts up and have to go in and clean it up, especially if im up in a tree.

Grigri for lanyard?

Anyone try using a grigri for their flip line?

I had it from rock climbing days, and seems to be in good condition with little wear, and using a camp gyro lanyard 11mm. Itried it one day and felt like it worked great as long the brake side was in the right position. But second time it kept slipping on me. According to a quick Google search the rope sizes match.

Im switching to using the rope logic prusik. But im curious if anyone tried it and had success

Do you carry your books while out foraging?

Its heavy to bring my plant and mushroom field guides, especially without messing up my harvest.

What do you bring for certain ID? Its a bummer harvesting mushrooms in hopes for dinner only to learn its not what I thought.

Learning to make wine from 13oz of wild oregon grapes

I understand the basics of wine making but have no idea where to go to find the stuff.

I went on a hike and found around 13oz of wild grapes, I can probably find more, but how much wine would I end up making with so little?

Also, thinking about adding some leftover watermelon juice from the 4th of July. Is this a good idea?

Careful what you wish for

As a young kid I had a neighbor who had the horse shoe hair and I thought it looked so cool, and here I am almost 30 and have had long hair 10 years, and my 5yr old dream is coming true.

I believe I started thinning 1-2yrs ago from having head fungus. I ended up treating it with some Ketoconozole that my mom had a stash of, and the flakes, itching, and heavy hair loss went away a couple months ago. I’ve been waiting to see if it’d grow back. But still feels like I’m slightly thinning. My grandpa on mom’s side is bald along with uncle so I’m worried I may have the genetics.

What can I do to help new hair growth? Natural stuff is preferred, along with stuff I don’t need to religiously put on multiple times a day.
