Have you traveled somewhere that changed the way you think about traveling to new places?
Has anyone ever traveled somewhere that completely changed the way they think about travel?
I’m 28 and have been lucky to travel quite a bit already — multiple countries in Europe, almost every island in the Caribbean, 25 states, Mexico, Canada, etc. I’ve always loved experiencing new places and usually spend a lot of time planning where to go next.
But last year, my partner and I went to Hawaii for the first time and visited the Big Island and Kauai. We absolutely fell in love with Kauai — to the point that we went back again this year, along with Maui and Oahu.
Now I think about Kauai literally every day, and it’s made planning future trips weirdly difficult. Whenever I look at flights or hotel prices for somewhere new, my immediate thought is: “...but we could just go back to Kauai for that money.”
I never expected one place to completely reset my interest in seeing new destinations, but that’s kind of how it feels right now.
Has this happened to anyone else? Did you eventually get past it and start feeling excited about exploring new places again?
