Every ERP is suddenly AI-powered. Is any of it actually useful yet, or is it all demo magic?
Feels like every ERP vendor slapped AI on their homepage this year, ERPNext and the big names included. I'm trying to separate what's genuinely helpful from what's just there for the sales deck.
Stuff that seems actually useful:
- Auto-categorizing transactions and flagging odd entries.
- Demand forecasting that feeds into purchasing/MRP.
- Natural language search instead of digging through menus.
Stuff that feels like a gimmick so far:
- Ask your data chatbots that fall apart the moment you ask something specific.
- AI-written summaries nobody reads.
For those running it in a real business: is any of the AI stuff actually saving you time day to day, or is it mostly a checkbox feature you never touch? Trying to figure out if it should influence which direction we go.
