Went to buy two new guinea pigs today, a few days after my old, lone guinea pig died (long story).

Tried to get her a companion while she was still living, but my vet and pet store staff discouraged me from doing so.

They both told me guinea pigs are territorial animals (I thought they were social ones), and that they can kill one another if adult and in the same cage.

I never heard of such thing, especially because I only see videos of crowded cages on the internet.

Has your vet warned you against keeping your guinea pigs paired too?

How should I act next?

Right now they are sharing the same space but I'm monitoring them.

Should I separate them?

I don't wanna wake up one day to find a bloodbath...
