I was graphic designer for a cosmetic company for 4 years. The salary was never really consistent, sometimes 2-3 months without salary, so I started looking for a way out. About 3 months before I quit I launched a TikTok page posting my designs and I was actually getting design and printing gigs from it. Things felt good so I took the leap.
What I didn’t think about was that my job came with accommodation. So the moment I left I had to figure out rent and bills on my own. And the gigs I was getting before I quit have kind of slowed down a lot since I went full time. I don’t really know why.
I’m self taught so I don’t have a big name or agency behind me, just been grinding on my own.
It’s been a few months now with barely any orders and I’m just questioning everything at this point.
Has anyone gone through something like this? What helped you get back on track?
