Surgery TODAY!!

Hi guys!! I'm currently waiting in pre-op to be wheeled away for my decompression! In my silly little gown and grippy socks.

I'm sooooo nervous, but I hope this will be a new beginning.

Please keep me in your thoughts and wish me luck!! :')

Post-Surgery Expectations

Hi!! I was diagnosed with 1.4cm Chiari 1. I'm getting my decompression and C1 laminectomy this Tuesday, 5/19. My surgeon may elect to add duraplasty in the OR if CSF flow isn't restored enough.

I'm so nervous for the surgery. I've only ever had my wisdom teeth pulled, and I wasn't put under for that. I was put under one time before for an endoscopy, but that was only for an hour. Not 3-4 hours! This is my first major surgery.

I'm very scared of the post-op pain... I haven't heard much about the immediate after- like when you wake up in the hospital and those first few days. How would you guys rate/describe the pain and discomfort? What should I know about/expect? Like for example, I JUST found out I'm gonna have a catheter the other day, I had no clue lol. I've seen people say they temporarily regret the surgery because of the pain. I've seen a lot of people with CSF leak as well. All very scary :')

Thank you guys so much for your support. I will probably post updates on the surgery here because this is terrifying and hearing from others like me is very reassuring right now.
