Hi everyone,
I went to a salon today that does booking by the hour. This is my first time seeing this and i wasn’t really sure what to do.
I clicked on 2 hours and 25 minutes and the description said “services that can be completely during this time include partial foil, gloss, cut and blow dry. But may vary” I selected that option and submitted a form for consultation that included what services I was looking for, my goals, i included 3+ photos of my hair. Explained its dryness, texture, length, thickness& more. We had a consultation via FaceTime scheduled and she cancelled it a few minutes before and told me to come 15 mins earlier to my appointment.
Now I have shoulder length hair, that is fine, dry and a bit curly. I had a keratin done last week. I was really just looking for a blend of my grown out highlights. I am trying to not damage it at all.

Well, I arrived 10 mins early. Waited for her for a bit past the start time. We had a quick consultation and she told me that she couldn’t do a lot of the things that I was asking for. Told me that we had time to do a partial foil and she just wasn’t gonna have enough time to fully blow dry. I told her no problem. I just really needed a touchup and haircut, we could skip a gloss and it’s ok about the blow out.

Well, I ended up only getting a partial foil. I left with my hair wet and no haircut and no gloss (i did say i didn’t need it). I’ve had hairdressers in the past not blow my hair out because I’m trying to reduce damage but usually it was after a few times seeing them so I knew and trusted them, but they always did my bangs or a section of the hair so I could see .
I was kind of shocked.. and she said that I shouldn’t have come with my hair, partially wet cause that took up to 10 minutes to dry before starting foils and there is no more time. i didn’t know this and my hair was pulled into a bun like 60% dry

I was charged $325.

Is this fair and reasonable? My mom used to do my hair but stopped in salon to retire then had to stop altogether because she has bad arthritis and she is appalled by way i was charged… but is she just trying to be on my side?

Another thing to know is, I’m not sure if I should tip her. I had an issue with the Venmo where I sent the money, but I shut my phone down quickly and it was asking for me to verify I knew her by typing in the last four of her phone number .. my mom says I absolutely should not tip her and not see her again.

what are your thoughts?

Located in MA, not in city but not the middle of no where.
