Architecture/Construction Career Advice
Hi everyone! I’m a high school senior about to start college for a B.Arch and have always wanted to do architecture, but after an architecture internship and visiting some construction companies last summer, I realized I’m also really interested in the construction side of the industry and would love to intern in that area during college too. I really enjoy drafting/modeling in Revit and AutoCAD (most of my portfolio is that lol) and plan to keep improving those skills on my own.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the different career paths in architecture and construction, so I’d love to hear what you guys do, your role/sector, where you work, work-life balance, whether you enjoy it, and any goals you’re working toward. I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who started their own firm, development company, or contracting business since I’ve been thinking a lot about combining architecture and construction in the future, especially with a construction management minor.
