I realized most “sleep problems” are actually nervous system problems

To those who haven’t seen my previous posts, a little intro here, my friend and I were suffering sleep problems maybe because of anxiety or overwhelmed, he’s an software engineer so we decided to build a sleep app for ourselves.

After our first launch and days of self testing, talking to friends and people from email waitlist, we decided to make a pivot, might take some time for second launch.

Let’s talk about our experiences and insights:

  1. Not much useful sleep tracking data from current wearable devices like Apple Watch. So we decided to use get able data to predict tension and anxiety levels, more like a states detection.

  2. What users really expecting isn’t a good sleep score or ai sleep insights(relaxation is a result not the reason). What they really want is to be understanded and nervous system be fixed or healed at the moment, which means a good performance recovery both physically and mentally. ( e.g. 2am in the morning.)

  3. So instead of showing data and sleep scores or adding white noise features, we decided to focus on recovery processes and practice, to calm down dysregulated nervous system. Make people feel secure and healed before rest.

That’s pretty all we’ve discovered. I hope we’re on the right track helping people live a better and healthier life.
