Never caught a northern pike and been trying to get one with internet recommendation lures, it hasn’t worked out at all. If I wanted to try and use cut bait, what would be the best way to do it? Have plenty of toothy fish experience with bowfin and gar.
Been VERY hooked on bowfin fishing lately. The ones in the pond I fish are almost always 25+ inches and very powerful fish. I’ve been using higher strength snap swivels and pretty decent sized thick bass hooks, pretty much every catch I have to retie because my swivel is completely mangled or they bent the hook beyond repair. Any recommendations on some tougher tackle? I do have a few steel leaders but never use them and not sure if they would actually mitigate the hook damage
