looking at homes to buy in south eastern Ontario. In an area with a limestone rock everywhere.

one home that checks all the boxes had a “Y” cut out of their basement floor. They left the cutout open and you can see the pipe. I spoke with a foundation repair company and they said I could leave it open and put a dehumidifier down there. I’d still be worried about mold though. I’d prefer to fill it in with gravel and pour concrete.

any thoughts?
