What’s a trope you secretly love no matter how overused it is?

I know people always talk about “overdone tropes,” but honestly there are some I’ll fall for every single time if they’re written well.

For me it’s probably:

  • enemies to lovers
  • the “cold villain softens for one person” trope
  • hidden overpowered protagonist
  • characters forced into political marriages

I don’t even care if I can predict it. If the emotional payoff is good, I’m in.

What’s a trope you’ll never get tired of? And what makes it work for you instead of feeling cliché?

I’m in a massive reading slump. Give me your best messy, high-drama web fics.

I need something that actually keeps me hooked. I'm taking a break from fantasy and litRPG, and I just want purely addictive modern urban drama or romance.

If you had to recommend exactly ONE story that had you completely obsessed by chapter 5, what is it? Drop the title and a one-sentence pitch.
