Gum health
Hi hyster sisters! I am about 5 months post op from a total hysterectomy / kept my ovaries. While I love not having a period, iron deficiency, and chronic pain, it seems I have developed some gum related issues that are terrifying. I am almost certain my hormones are out of whack. Around once a month my left breast is extremely tender/sore especially the nipple area. My libido is down. My dreams are insane (never had weird dreams before!) and I am constantly tired.
Anyway, I went to my regular routine dentist visit and they told me I have periodontal disease. The thing is, I went to the dentist 2 months before my surgery and I was completely fine. I have never had a cavity, fillings, etc, anything! I brush twice a day and floss every day, and I also have a water floss that I use every other night. I have the whitest and cleanest teeth in my peer group, we always talk about it. Its just so shocking and honestly devastating. That diagnosis was one month ago, and I went through 2 of the laser/antibiotic treatments. One of which I suffered (and still suffer) from lock jaw, which carries a whole slew of issues in itself!
The past month, I have noticed my gums are like disappearing. Even up top, it looks like a got ozempic in my gums. You can feel every single top (bottom??) of my tooth through my gums. It looks crazy, and I am also getting canker sores now all over my gums where I never have had this before.
I am truly beside myself and cannot stop freaking out about this. I am not certain what exactly my hormones are up to, but I have a feeling my estrogen levels have something to do with this.
Should I get my hormones checked? Is it too soon to tell? SOS
