I am not your bellhop!!!!
There must be something about me that says ‘I would love to be your bellhop, ESPECIALLY when you’re demanding and don’t even say please/thank you.’
I live in a high-rise building. With SPACIOUS elevators that can comfortably hold 8 people with no one touching or crowded.
When I use the elevator, I always click my floor‘s button and then immediately step away from the panel so that others can access it for themselves. Literally to the opposite corner of the elevator, 3+ feet away from the panel. It is so frustrating that even when I have stepped away from the panel they will say ‘floor 12345’ expecting me to push the button for them. No please or thank you, and then when I say ‘you can get it’, they look at me like it’s the most offensive thing they‘ve ever experienced. Even when I’ve had my hands completely full, people have stepped in the elevator and just expected me to get their button too. And to reiterate: I go out of my way to move out of the way of the button panel so it’s not blocked for use. The entitled people I’m talking about have every ability to push their own button.
I am not staff!!!! I am not a bellhop!!!! If you have your hands full and ask nicely then yes of course I’ll push the button for you, but if you have a free hand and can reach the panel comfortably then you need to do it yourself instead of just assuming that I’m happy to amble back over to the panel just to press the your button for you.
I have never been so excited to be moving back into a walk-up.
