Normally I would be bringing you your Saturday morning/afternoon “visual” treat today. Instead, between last night and this morning — in less than 24 hours — we had Zhang Chi almost in tears on livestream, fans outraged at other fans, and an offline event canceled over safety concerns. All this struck a nerve as it unfolded and I felt it was more important to bring to the forefront the growing concern over actors safety the more popular they get.
Zhang Chi had flown into Zhengzhou, China for an Estée Lauder fan meetup. Word got out fast. The mall was in absolute chaos and the crowds were far beyond what was expected, resulting in the event being canceled for safety reasons.
And honestly? After seeing the airport footage first… I would 100% RUN too!
This is how/where things turned ugly…
Everyone apparently knew what flight he was on and ambushed him at the airport. Fans were grabbing his arms, shoving phones in his face, pushing his staff around, and physically crowding him to the point he was batting phones away and visibly trying to escape the situation.
Meanwhile his manager — bless her heart because she is tiny — was absolutely refusing to give an inch while screaming for people to move.
By the final clips, Zhang Chi is actively trying to hide while his team pushes through the crowd.
So yes, by the time they reached the venue and saw how massive the turnout was, panic was probably immediate and rightfully so.
And kudos to the team for canceling!
This is however where fandom reactions split hard.
Some people actually blamed Zhang Chi for not appearing, demanded refunds for travel expenses, and acted as if an actor feeling unsafe around aggressive fans was somehow unreasonable.
Others pushed back loudly, calling out the harassment, lack of boundaries, and the responsibility management and promoters have to protect an actor’s physical and mental well-being.
Because let’s be honest here: things are getting worse the more popular these actors become.
Yes, we adore them. We giggle, thirst, joke around, and get emotionally attached. But there are still boundaries. Harassment and stalking are not fandom behavior.
And seeing Zhang Chi apologize afterward on livestream to the point he looked almost in tears after already being pushed past his limits? That was honestly hard to watch.
Fans acting like this should be condemned, not encouraged — and the victim should not be turned into the villain for feeling unsafe.
100% be a fan! Heck we all are fans! But be respectful and understand boundaries. Understand that unacceptable, and quite frankly unlawful with the physical harassment, behavior can result in ruining things (like this event) for others and has an impact on our actors mental health and safety.

In true iQIYI variety show fashion the members of Voice Of Youth Choir were sent to a ‘Field Day’ event to work on team building before they start to work on combining the small groups into one in this weeks new episodes.
Now whoever thought that it was a great idea to stick a bunch of 20-30 somethings in a position to compete after a long day of filming and singing, to see which team gets the best food is either genius or crazy lmao! They were REAL quick to let their true competitive natures shine and went all in! This ‘team building’ was more like finding out who was the predator and who was the prey… Shao Zi Heng apparently learned a thing or two from spending all that time with Wang Hedi and Z. Tao on Wander Together and lasted far longer than I thought. The girls, especially Xu Yi Yang Z. Tao’s wife was like a pack of hyenas (in a 100% good way!) and took no prisoners!
Ma Xiao Yu however… took the sneaky kid approach and pulled something I would do. His personal interpretation of the rules lmao. A balloon is a balloon as long as its the right color!
