Divide & Conquer timing?

Spring as they poke their little heads up, of course. Have done late spring divisions for gifting to other Hosta growers. I prefer to divide hostas that are overgrowing their spot in autumn. My thinking is to get them to establish roots before freezing weather. I've had good luck with all of these times as long as they get replanted right away.

I'm open to learning from experienced growers, though. What is your preferred time to rework hosta beds?

Other Hosta Gardens

Medium sized hostas around the AC unit. Also a couple daylillies. Center was crowded out by my Bleeding Hearts which have grown huge. I'll have to dig some of those out again.

Smalls and Minis along the garage sidewalk. There are some cute little buggers in there, and a few blues.

All these photos were taken about 1:30 pm, Central Time. South East Nebraska. Sunniest part of the day in mid-summer.

Back Yard Fence Garden

On the left is what remains of my big, large, and huge Hostas. Lost about half of them when my two fairly mature Clump Redbuds split and died after an early Spring warm spell followed by a deep freeze a few years ago.

I planted a Magnolia and another Clump Redbud. The test of this garden is daylillies, Clematis, sedum, and various shrubbery. Just finished the mulch replenishment. Only took 85 bags, 1.5 cubic feet each.

Edit: Didn't realize how little detail can be seen in these when taking them from my patio. Apologies.

A couple IDs if possible

Neptune or Halcyon for #1? Smaller blue. One tiny flower stalk now.

Unknown possibilities for #2. Glossy leaves, no flowers yet in early July.

Need a couple Identities...

New subscriber to this sub. Dozens of Hostas in a few different garden spots, but I failed to remember most of their names. Most of the time, I don't care what they are called anymore, but these two are bugging me.

First pic is my "Smalls & Minis" area on the North side of my house. 2nd shows a blue variety in that garden area I'd like a name for. 3rd is a darker multiple green color variety that I can't remember the name of.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: pics git rearranged in posting. 1st is the blue in question. 2nd is the sidewalk garden of smalls and minis.

250,000 visits this week?

I was just notified that our subreddit had a quarter of a million visits in the last week. That's amazing to me. I hope everyone is finding all the posts helpful!

Please review the rules. Remember we are here to help each other. We haven't had many problems, just some replies that kind of lost the point of the sub. (I'm still figuring out how to use the mod tools.) Please report any problems you might have.

Keep posting!

Anybody catch Isbell & The 400 Unit on Austin City Limits tonight? Nice set, if way too short. Trying to figure out who was on the bass. Wasn't Jimbo.

Ahhh... Looked it up - Anna Butters. Now I can sleep....
