Sown way too many wildflower seeds?
Hello, first time ever trying to do anything like this, apologies for the silly mistakes!
I purchased a bag of wildflower seeds to attempt to transform parts of an overgrown grass garden to have “islands” of wildflower plants native to the area. After scarifying and sowing the seeds, I’m now worried I’ve sown way too many for the space I’ve given them.
The areas were all slightly different sizes, ranging from 0.7 m x 0.5 m to 1.8 m x 1.5 m, but for each area I would have used somewhere between 5 to 10 g of seed. I sprinkled them to lightly cover the ground, and in my opinion they didn’t look densely together, and quite sparse to the point I debated adding more but didn’t.
Having now found a calculator on the website I bought the seeds from, I see for most of the areas I should have used 1-2 g of seed. So I’ve used 5-10x the recommended amount 😭
Is there a way to rectify this and how low should my hopes be that anything grows in spring?
