The Simple Mistake Detailers Keep Making

I am no leading expert when it comes to detailing but in my 12 years i have gained a lot of experience to avoid mistakes that can have a damaging result. Overspray is a real issue that many detailers do NOT pay attention to. I have even seen it with higher experienced detailers and some may do it because of rushing and some do it because they just do not know. In this video i show you why it's important to spray your cleaning product into your brush and not directly at the steering wheel. So is it carelessness? Is it an honest mistake? Or just lack of experience? Leave your comments down below and i hope this video helps you to avoid this costly mistake.

If You Can Not Afford A Water Softening System. Use Adam's Mega Foam Soap

So i have to DI water softening systems just sitting in my storage. One to use for renovating my van's interior which i have not had time to do yet because of the busy schedule and another one just to have in case the other one fails. I always buy 2 of everything for that specific reason. The DI water softening systems can be expensive for some and in this demonstration i thought i would show you the results. I used hard water on this exterior wash. I used the Adam's Mega Foam in the foam cannon and in the wash bucket as well.

I even let the soap dry on the surface on a very hot day in direct sun and the Mega foam just leaves the car spot free. Now of course after rinising you can not just leave the water to evaporate like DI water but Adam's Mega Foam has water softeners formulated in the soap and engineered to dissolve the calcium in hard water. So if you are unable to afford a water softening system, this soap will be your best friend.

When Your Car Detailer Thinks He's Da Vinci. 2026 Carpet Lines Too Far? The Trend?

It's time to seperate the professional detailer from the social media detailers. Lately this year there has been a viral trend of detailers putting in carpet lines. One such video of a detailer on IG taking like 10 minutes to put in carpet lines using a pet hair remover block. The majority of the comments said "Waste of time". I said "I feel that detailing is becoming a side show rather than the real work" . You may think your customer likes carpet lines but they don't and i really feel that before you go putting carpet designs in someone's carpet. You should at least ask the customer first.

It is the biggest waste of time doing this especially when you are going to put the customer's weather tech or rubber matts back in or the customer is literally about to hop in the car to drive off. Carpet lines are actually semi-permanent but once you install them into the carpet and they stay that way for months , i have tried removing them by refreshing the carpet and even using steam to even out the carpets and make them one direction but you can still see the past detailer's carpet lines. No exotic car owner has ever requested carpet lines and at the end of the day the customer just wants a clean and protected vehicle.

The Mona Lisa Thumbnail that i created is a comedic example of how far detailers are going with carpet designs by putting in logos, signatures, and buying templates to prove absolutely nothing and act like you need a Doctrines degree to do carpet lines. To each his own but this is something you grow out of to understand that carpet lines is a very cheap looking gimmick, it's low class.

Cleaning Perforated Seats: Easiest And Safest Method

I see it all the time when it comes to cleaning perforated seats. Detailers using compressed air, dental picks, paper clips and even ball point pens to so called remove debris from the perforations but these methods only push the dirt and debris down into the seat and never ends up removing the debris. That is not detailing to me, it's just covering up an open wound with a band-aid instead of truly resolving the issue. My method in this video is a simple technique and the video proves that this method actually pops out the dirt and debris instead of pushing it down into the holes.

Please be civil and understand that this is a detailing forum that is about detailing and helping others with questions or anything detailing related. This is not the place for drama or verbal attacks or harassment. If your goal is to start drama here, i will not bother responding and mods will remove your comment. Whether you are new to detailing or your business is desperate for business i just wanted to share a few points before you go making your next special especially when it comes to ceramic coating. First is to never put $399 because the words "Starting at" should be in front and also offers like this is the best way to get a bad review and here's why.

We all know that you don't exactly have to polish and remove every defect to apply a ceramic coating. Of course the surface should be prepped minimum with your wash routine followed by Iron Decon and a clay bar treatment. The problem here is now that this offer is out, they can not pick and choose what colored vehicles they do. The reality in detailing is light colored vehicles you can get away with just the wash, decon, and clay but when it comes to dark colored vehicles you are going to see marring especially if you are using a clay mit or clay towel. The vehicle will have to be polished otherwise you are just sealing this damage under the coating

Customers that are on a budget will expect to pay no more than this offer and what happens when someone shows up with a black GMC Denali and GM paint is finicky to say the least especially when you are using a clay mit. This is just my opinion but i will not offer any ceramic coating special like this because you will over work yourself and run into problems. Also i want to add that this is one of the reasons it is becoming harder to sell quality ceramic coating jobs because then you now have customers saying "Oh well there is a guy doing it for $399". I then ask people, then why are you calling me?

This was a daily driven vehicle and the paint had moderate swirls and light scratches. Adam's Polishes Swirl Killer 15mm / Rupes Yellow Polishing Pad / 3D One / Polisher Speed Setting 4 / Rupes Reveal Lite = The Perfect combo. Video was sped up so my arm speed was much much slower. Doing any type of paint correction mobily will burn you out very quick just saying.

This was a customer whom constantly has her truck scraped by over extended tree shrubs and branches. Some of the scratches were superficial but a majority you could feel with your finger nail. I see too often that before even touching the panel, detailers fail to talk with the customer about expectations that because this is factory paint that we have to approach the damage in a manner that preserves clear coat rather than someone just grabbing a rotary and just going to town.

The reality in detailing is that it is nothing more than an illusion and customers are usually more than happy after they truly understand the scope. So here it looks like i completely removed all of the scratches but in truth i did not. We see so many detailers on social media performing camera tricks and using AI to reveal that damage is 100% completely gone but that reality does not exist. 85% to 90% exist in my book. So i took pictures at different angles to show that the scratches appear to be fully gone but the last photo shows the truth of what i discussed with the client that it will be greatly improved but you still may be able to see some of the scratches.

The only thing that is noticeable is the long dent that was left behind from the branch.
