Sharp burning pains and skin numbness, from statin?
I already have an appointment to speak with my cardiologist about this, but I'm curious if anyone has had similar issues with taking statins. For context I'm 43 male and am have become very disciplined with the way I eat. Recently found out in may that I have familial hypercholesterolemia with a extremely high LP(a). Cardiologist prescribed my Atorvastatin 40mg. I have been taking for approximately 3-4 weeks. Last week I notice a sore spot in the muscle area between my left nipple and arm pit. When moving in certain positions or pushing on the area it creates an INTENSE burning/pulling pain that lasts for 15-30 seconds. Like a 8-9 on the pain scale. Stops me in my tracks and takes my breath away. I went to the urgent care for this since it seems only in the muscle just beneath the and now I have imaging scheduled to investigate. Fast forward to yesterday, the same type of pain is now happening in my right hip area. Just below the skin in the muscle and is even more intense then the first area. The sharp burning pain hits in my hip, takes by breath away, or wakes me up from sleeping, and then creates an area of numbness about 2-3" in diameter. It's only been 2 days with the new pain but is already unbearable to deal with. Has anyone had symptoms like these and found they were related to their statin use?
