What is with Gas Prices & Gas Stations "Out of Service"?
I went to the gas station today to put gas in my car (and my job relies on me driving from place to place, daily), and every single pump at the gas station had a sign that read, "Out of service until 12:00".
I arrived in the morning, and decided to just go to a different gas station down the road. I got my gas, and things were fine.
After that, though, i began to think.. Is this the new norm? What if it was more extreme? What if the sign said, "Out of service until Next Monday"?
I live in the state of Utah (SLC county), and we have never experienced something like this. Perhaps that specific gas station was just waiting for a re-up, and they had to put things on hold until it arrived. But I couldn't help but think, "is this related to what is going on in world politics?"
I have lived in another country where you cant drive on specific days, depending on the marking on your license plate. That was mostly a "carbon friendly emission" initiative in the country I lived in.
But what if we had to begin to regulate gas, not by money alone, but also by time in the day? I.e. Pumps are only open certain hours of the day.
What if gas stations began to shut down, because the profit became too marginal?
For one, me and many others would simply be unable to do our jobs. Many might face lay-offs because the company is losing money by paying them, because the gas prices that the company pays have become too extreme.
Idk.. This is just a thought that came across me today. I thought it might be worth sharing.
