I just watch S2 E9 Firewalker for the first time.

I’d put it up there with Ice, Darkness Falls, and Field Trip.

X-Files shines the most on these little road trip episodes away from home.

Plus a young Bradley Whitford appearance!

Skinner appreciation thread (spoilers up to s2 e6: ascension)

#PLEASE NO SPOILERS BEYOND S2 E6

I was thinking about making this post in the last few minutes of this episode. Mulder just confronted Skinner about his suspicions of Kercyk murdering folks.

Up until this point, Skinner and Mulder have had constant tension. Skinner seems like a Dr Cox type character: no nonsense, dedicated fiercely to his job, rough around the edges, joyless, but deeply cares about his team and will fight for them.

And Skinny is a pretty rough around the edges dude, but I was getting this vibe that he is on Mulders side he’s just old school by the books and Mulder is… often not that.

THEN SKINNER TOLD MULDER HE CANT PROTECT HIM IF THIS GOES HIGHER AND RE INSTATED THE X FILES AS ITS THE ONE THING “THEY” FEAR THE MOST! HELL YEAH BROTHER!!!

The truth is out there y’all.

DD in S2 is giving fatigued Bruce Wayne vibes. A tired crusader fighting the good fight, similar to how run down but still willing he was in the Hush and Knightfall comics.

S2 E3 “Blood”

Just finished this episode. It was a weird one.

While Fox Mulder stops the immediate threat by capturing the sniper at the clock tower, the masterminds behind the plot escape completely unexplained and unpunished.

First, it’s odd that they cast an adult film actor as one for a guest actor in the show. I've never heard of her before but this was apparently during her prime working years. She also worked as a body double for Sharon Stone and Demi Moore in other movies.

This episode felt like the first half of a two part story, and it ended with a dud. The story just ended.

Instead of each scene building off one another, it ended without knowing or confirming what causes the killing, if the digital subliminal messaging was in their heads entirely or caused by an external catalyst. It’s just “anddddd the end” out of nowhere.

The ending did remind me a little of Dirty Harry with the showdown between Mulder and the shooter. Similar vibes.

Very dark and bleak episode, may be one of their weakest one I’ve seen so far (only watched S1 and then up to this point in s2)

I just watched the first season finale (S1 Spoilers)

Please don’t spoil anything beyond season 1 in this thread.

This is my first time watching through X Files.

I feel such chagrin for Deep Throat. Maybe we’ll learn more about him in the future but dude was an enigma. No idea what part of the intel community or exec branch he worked for, but I think that was part of his charm. I went back and watched his clips in S1E2 as well. He was charming and cared about Mulder and the truth and it cost him dearly. Man, such a tragedy. The interdepartmental conflicts are something I did NOT expect when watching x files. I don’t know why but I didn’t expect there to be different conspiratorial groups within the intel community fighting one another.

Was that really an alien baby or body? Does it even matter if they think it is? It gave a bit of an Indiana Jones ending with the warehouse within the Pentagon as well.

Now TXF are disbanded and we’ll have to see the band get back together in S2. Wonder how that’s going to happen. Crazy that the President shut down the TXF. It’s a subtle line, but Mulder said, “word came from up top at the executive branch, they’re shutting us down.” Maybe it wasn’t POTUS but a cabinet member.

RIP deep throat.

I also did some googling, bc I ONLY name the name deep throat as a sexual act and surely it’s not referencing that, right? Yes and no. The informant for Watergate was nicknamed DEEP THROAT and TXF deep throat is a homage to that one. The original deep throat was a double entendre of “deep journalism” and a popular smut movie at the time called “deep throat.” So, not very classy but is what it is I guess.

I find myself relating with both Mulder and Scully. I am pretty skeptical at heart, which leans me more towards Scully’s passion for logic and empirical evidence. She’s a bit like Spock in that regard. And I resonate with Mulder as his open mind and hope/optimist for scientific mysteries can leave him ostracized or seem like a crazy person. He does the right thing and wears his heart on his sleeve, and has a generous heart and open mind, but that can also burn him easily. It’s a damn shame they’re putting such a brilliant mind on surveillance duty for white color crimes in S2E1.

My second stand alone novel was released this weekend after 18 months of hard work.

If y’all are curious, https://a.co/d/00rOztSf

It’s a fast paced science fiction thriller for fans of Tom Clancy, Isaac Asimov, and space operas in general. My first book got a lot of comparisons to the Expanse, and I did read the first seven of those, but honestly, felt the tv show was too modern audience for me. This is grounded, realistic, no identity politics or sjw content, just salt of the earth scifi thriller.

Honestly if y’all want the epub I can just email it to you, just leave me a review on amazon and good reads!
