Newish pain 6 weeks after hernia surgery
I had laparascopic incisional hernia repair on April 1st on the incision from my emergency bowel surgery last summer. The incision is right in the middle of my abdomen and runs about 6 inches up from the belly button.
The area of discomfort is at the top of the incision. Although the bulk of the hernia was at the bottom of the incision. The surgeon had to recut the top of the original incision to secure the mesh at the top.
I've been healing well and I saw my surgeon on April 30th and he said everything looks good and everything I asked about he said was normal.
Yesterday I was was at an all day event outdoors. I wore pants with a drawstring waist and tied them up pretty tight so they would not fall down. I also lifted a walker into my car but it was only about 12 pounds, so I wouldn't call it heavy lifting.
By the time I got home I was feeling some sharp pain in my abdomen in the area where the mesh is implanted but it only seems to hurt when I don't touch it, like when I walk and my belly jiggles (I'm plus size female) or if I twist getting out of bed. It doesn't hurt if I hold my belly when I walk and it doesn't hurt when I press on it.
Is it possible that the drawstring being tied tight caused some kind of irritation because there was no give to the waistband of my pants? I was sitting for most of the day.
If it doesn't ease up by tomorrow I will call the surgeon's office.
