Since Fogborn and Ao Oni are more like animals and organisms rather then an entity or a supernatural being, I like to think fogborn and ao oni's rank skin arent the same guy, so like its not fogborn or ao oni in a stronger or more evolved form like how the rank skins for the other charectors presumably show the same monster but growing and becoming powerful. But for Ao Oni and Fogborn, the rank skins are not the same charectors as their defaults but are seperate species of them in the same genus. Like think about how Lions and Tigers are not the same animal but are in the same genus or whatever its called being Feline and Hyena's and Wolves arent the same species but are very related animals in the same genus/category/ family or whatever its called, or alternatively for my headcanon it would be multiple species of fogborns and oni's like how there are multiple species of bears, domesticated cats and dogs, parrots etc Think of it like that for all of ao oni and fogborn's rank skins.

Also, felt like giving the skins their own species names just because I thought it would be neat

default fogborn: Crimson Finned Stone Fogborn

tier 1 fogborn: Violet Angler Fogborn

tier 2 fogborn: Sunset Petal Back Fogborn

tier 3: Luminant Wraith Fogborn

Tier 4: Silvercoat Basilisk Fogborn

Default Ao Oni: Ao Oni (lazy I know but I think its a fit enough name already)

Tier 1 Ao Oni: Giant Woodshell Oni

Tier 2: Giant Whip Tongued Angler Oni (Or Giant Spear Tongued Angler Oni)

tier 3: Giant Monarch Ao Oni

Tier 4: Goliath Amalgamation Oni
