Ex partner troubles
I live in ILLINOIS. So my ex-wife and I divorced a few years ago. Recently, I had begun filing paperwork for the judge to enforce her to pay her part of a debt we were told to split 50/50 because I have now satisfied my part and have been covering her half because she has been refusing to pay(it's a credit card, banks dont really care about who owes what they just want their money). Her response to my filing was to inform her new boyfriend who immediately called to threaten me to withdraw my motion. After I did not a few months later she filed a protective order against me claiming I did/was doing all of these horrible things including bringing her back to court to have her settle her part of debts she has been ignoring for almost 2 years, her claim was that it was bringing up traumatic memories she wanted to leave behind among other things.Anyway, I missed the court date because she chose to have them inform me in the one way that would assure I would never receive notice unless i was home when they brought the letter(verified mail rather than email). Eventually I was served the PO paperwork and read about all the terrible things I was apparently doing. Unfortunately for her, I tend to keep archives of evidence(our emails, and old texts mainly), all of which opposed her claims both during and after our marriage. I will eventually file my own PO, because of the threats so that is not my concern.
Now that you understand my journey a bit, my question is regarding the blatant lies she claimed against me to create her PO. Is there anything I can do(my initial assumption is that this is defamation)? It was so bad that the evidence I brought to refute it made her withdraw the case and the judge removed the order just a few days before we were meant to be before the judge for our evidentiary hearing.
