The sacred ballad of Dark Steel Ore - and how it came to extinction
Heyo,
I play on a lower-ish pop server and I'm trying to level smithing. I'm in my dark steel ore days and usually we've got stacks of 12 for a decent price on the AH.
However, theres roughly 5 of us camping that AH for the ore right now, day in, day out the same homies buying up all the goodies from the goody bag.
So I thought, well, how can I get it for myself?
The guild vendors are selling it 7k a pop, I just can't sustain that kind of damage. I'm a lvl 75 and sparks farming is slow as hell for me it seems.
So I thought ill craft some picks and set out for gusgen mine.
That was a night mare. I broke all 12 picks, not a single instance of dark steel.
Yet still, reliably, a player or two every day puts up a stack or more on the AH. Every day, diligently, they make this magical ore appear. They say "It is I. Ore-santa. Merry Smithmas."
How do they do it? How can I get this ore for myself? Mining seems abysmal. I tried farming mobs in quicksand caves as thief - the ore never dropped.
The percentages are so low for this forbbiden sacred ore. How can I get my hands on it without breaking the piggy bank or being beholden to the sacred good will of a mysterious ore-clause?
