I made a personal notarized loan from my wife a few years ago and have paid it down by 86% since then but she contests the payoff balance by at least another $20k from the balance due that I owe her. Can a spouse take you to court to get a judgment for her claim and if court agrees, would they garnish my trust? I am retired with no other income except monthly SS benefit.
