School list

What do you guys think of my school list?
I’m a Michigan resident. Im applying this cycle with a 3.75 cGPA, 3.65 sGPA, 490AA, and 440PAT. I also have a good amount of dental assisting/shadowing, some research, lots of leadership, and volunteering.

I’m trying to keep my list around 12 schools and make it balanced between cost, OOS friendliness, school quality, and realistic chances of getting accepted.

Current list:

Michigan

Detroit Mercy

LECOM

Marquette

Louisville

Case Western

Pitt

Tennessee

Temple

UNE

UCSF

Penn

Do you guys think this list is balanced, or are there any schools you would remove or replace?
Are there any cheap schools I should consider that aren’t on my list?

In state tuition after first year

I feel like when discussing cheaper outcomes for OOS schools, a lot of people on here say, “Apply to schools where you can get in-state tuition after the first year.”

But does anyone actually know how that process works? I’m looking into it, and it seems much easier said than done. For example, for Rutgers, it looks like you would need to work in New Jersey, provide tax return documents, and live there for a year independently while showing income in the state in order to qualify for in-state residency after the first year. Also it says on the website, “establishing this permanent home solely to attend the university does not meet legal requirements.”

Has anyone actually gone through this process and know how realistic it is? I don’t want to shift my school preferences toward programs that supposedly offer in-state tuition after the first year, only to run into problems if I get accepted.

Does math count as part of science GPA?

I was wondering, when calculating my science gpa, do I take into consideration any math classes I’ve taken?

Entering grades

Do I need to request my transcripts from the university now in order to be able to put my letter grades onto the application? Or how does in putting your grades work, because I’ve heard you have to do it manually.
