Extraction Techniques

I'm about a year into being licensed and still trying to learn a lot! I'm generally trying to move away from using steam during most services and trying to keep my extractions very gentle since I've become more and more convinced that it's super important to try to bring down inflammation in skin and try to avoid anything in the service that might enflame it. That being said, I'm trying to figure out the best ways to do extractions without steam, and also trying to understand better what I am seeing during extractions. I started making my own desincrustation solution (good old baking soda and water), and pairing that with just a few minutes of steam in clients with stubborn blackheads. What are some other tips that I could use to help prep the skin? Also, I feel like I take forever to do extractions. Any tips on working effectively through extractions to keep the time shorter?

On a different learning note, I was recently extracting a client and she had a lot of fluid coming out with her blackheads. I'm very gentle with my extractions and I wasn't seeing blood just like...pinkish fluid. In her temple area, it almost looked like makeup was coming out of her pores when I was extracting it. Is that something I might be seeing? I spoke with her about her cleansing routine and got her to move to a double cleanse at night instead of just removing her makeup with makeup wipes, but still felt a bit confused with what I was seeing since I haven't seen anything like that before.

TIA

As the title says, I'm curious on any estheticians thoughts in the treatment room for Skinscript's new lines they've released for their year of the desert. I got both sets, the agave and olive leaf, and the aloe and copper clay, for the place I am working since my boss likes to do seasonal facials and I thought they would be nice for summer. Does anyone have any experience using them? Pros? Cons? I know Skinscript can be heavy on the scents, but I generally have a more mature demographic who like more experience/fun facials, and aside from that, everything is for brightening, dry skin, and targeting wrinkles.

Thanks in advance!
