[SWE NG] Should I Renege Bloomberg for Google?
Recently got matched to a really good team at Google in their mountain view location. Having trouble deciding if I should renege my Bloomberg offer for it. My main issue is that the mountain view area seems a bit too quiet and monotone for me. I've been to both places before and really liked the vibe of NYC much more compared to the bay area in general.
Bloomberg:
Pros:
- Really nice office
- I like NYC a lot better
- Seems to have some one month new grad orientation thing seems pretty cool
- Has put in more effort to recruiting new grads so far compared to Google
- Stability
Cons:
- No idea which team I'll be on
- Slow growth
Google:
Pros:
- TC is higher by ~40k per year
- Will be living with best friend :D
- Maybe better growth
- I really like the team i'll be working on
- Great food apparently
Cons:
- Don't like mountain view area seems too slow for me
- Maybe not too too stable
- Longer commute every day
I think my main decision really is more so NYC vs bay area and I'd choose NYC everyday but Google is really hard of an offer to turn down especially cause I like what the team does. Not sure if I want to spend my early 20s like this however the TC diff is kind of substantial as well and Google has kind of always been the company i've wanted to go to. I've considered internal changes and stuff but that will probably take at least 2 years.
Which one would you guys choose? Really 50/50 on what I should do here. Thanks in advance :)
